"i knew the mob wouldn't go down without a fight. but this is different. They crossed the line." - bruce wayne

"you crossed the line first, sir. you hammered them. and in their desperation they turned to a man they didn't fully understand. some men aren't looking for anything logical. they can't be bought, bullied, reasoned or negotiated with. some men just want to watch the world burn." - alfred

not a billion stars can light the starkest of nights...

i've waited for this film to show on screen as i have always been a batman fan since i was a kid (i still remember na nylon spandex costume which made superman and batman looked stupid by wearing their undies the wrong way) and the long wait is worth it! as what marj blogged, "lampaso! all campy superhero films depart. this has set the standard for mature story telling and acting for superhero films."

unlike most batman movies which often show super hero-ish death defying stunts, high-tech equipment, voracious lip-locking and sloppy acting, the dark knight revolves around the issues of ethics and morality, existentialism and the human psyche. of all the batman movies, i think the dark knight is a movie which is loyal to the batman psyche - mysterious, dark and underground. again by marj, a mature film which showed the true essence of being super hero which is a person helping others become their very own super heroes.

disclaimer:: geek contents ahead. but then again, the knowledge is solely based on my perception so if anyone knows more about the geek parts below, please do advise and i'll type corrected.

"i have noticed even people who claim everything is predestined, and that we can do nothing to change it, look before they cross the road." - stephen hawking

if you are often confused with dreams and reality, then i recommend you this movie because it will give your insanity some justifications. drew barrymore rolled the immiscible literature, science and religion into one low budget film that is donnie darko.

donnie darko is a psychologically dysfunctional teenager who was saved from a jet engine crash by his imaginary rabbit friend named frank. frank prophesized to donnie the exact date and time when the world will end and would appear to him from time to time to give him certain tasks and prepare him when the 'time' comes.

as i was watching this movie, i was reminded of the "superstrings theory" also known as the "m-theory" and the "theory of everything" . so as not to complicate things (since i myself even don't know how to start), the umbrella idea of the said theory is tantamount to a loaf of bread wherein each bread slice is a 'universe' thus, the entire loaf of the 'cosmic' bread contains 'multiverses' which would tend to collide and intersect from time to time. moreover, these 'universes' have wormholes wherein you can pass through it to travel from one universe to another.

the superstrings theory has a lot of implications such as the possibility of "time travel" due to the absence of time, the possibility of other universes (as mentioned previously), mental, telepathy, astral projection and other religious beliefs such as meditation, reincarnation, apparitions etc. some of these implications have been incorporated in the movie like the "endless dream" and the concept of the "controlled dead" or whatchamacallit terms written in scriptures being flashed in some chapters of the film.

i don't think that 5 stars would be enough to materialize how my mind rated this film but since i got something as limited as "5 stars" then i have to deal with it.
